Mountains, Rain And Lüftlmalerei

Graffiti artists of today hardly often think of how people decorated their houses long ago. They didn't paint anything vulgar but created something kind, eternal and heartwarming.
Luftelmalarei art was allegedly created by a German painter Franz Seraph Zwinck who worked since 1748 to 1792 in his little village Oberammergau. In fact that is the very place to go to to see the real art, but the rest of Bavaria liked that idea so much this such wonderful paintings could be seen even in small towns of Bavaria today, such as Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we are going today.
All the art of unknown German artists is concentrated in one street - Ludwigstraße.
In winter more people come to the town - here is the German skiing center. The Olympic Games 1936 were held right here.
Town hall was restored right before those Olympic Games.
Railway / Cableway Zugspitzbahn has been operating since 1930 and this old locomotive proves it. An important detail - in the middle is the third rack rail with help of which it is possible to climb on top even along the railing
The new wonderfully gets along together with the old.
