Beautiful Tourist Places in Canada

Making a trip to the home of bears, ice hockey and Franco-American hybrids? Then make sure you don’t miss this little lot out of your itinerary. We present the top ten tourist spots in Canada.

1. The Canadian Rockies

The Canadian Rockies comprise the Canadian segment of the North American Rocky Mountains range. This natural beauty spot houses five national parks, four of which (Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho) make up the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage site, and it’s easy to see why. Snap-happy tourists will be spoilt for choice with stunning landscapes comprising peaks, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons and caves. Better take a spare memory card.

2. Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls are voluminous waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling the border between Ontario and New York.  On the Canadian side, Queen Victoria Park offers platforms with spectacular views of the falls, and underground walkways that lead into observation rooms which give the illusion of being within the falling waters. The observation deck of the nearby Skylon Tower offers the best birds-eye view of the Falls – not one for the faint-hearted!

3. Pacific Rim National Park

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve in British Columbia is made up of three separate regions: Long Beach, the Broken Group Islands, and the West Coast Trail. Open from mid-March until mid-October, the park is a haven for hikers, comprising varied terrain of rugged coastline and lush rainforest. Keep your eyes peeled for whales, seals and sea lions (especially in the spring) and twitchers will have a plethora of exciting bird species to spy on.

4. Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia

The Cabot Trail loops around the northern tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and is over 185 miles long. The trail passes through many charming communities, each with breathtaking scenery and unforgettable hospitality. Whilst on the trail take the time to hike in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, go whale watching, visit the museums and galleries and sample some of the finest seafood in the world.

5. Baffin Island

Baffin Island is an extremely remote spot, located in Arctic Ocean of Northern Canada.  The island offers visitors unique experiences such as viewing polar bears, catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights, and kayaking between ice flows.  Whether you’re looking for an out-of-the-way adventure or a relaxing break in remotest Northern Canada, Baffin Island has it all.

6. Vancouver

You’ll never be short of things to do in arguably Canada’s most vibrant city. Check out some outdoor theatre at ‘Bard on the Beach’, enjoy some aesthetic treats at an art gallery, or do some serious damage to your credit card in the shops. Vancouver’s cultural diversity is reflected in the range of restaurants, bars, pubs and nightclubs available. Whether you’re looking for a romantic retreat or a night out on the town, Vancouver has plenty to satisfy your craving.

7. The Prairies

The Canadian Prairies are an eco-friendly spot in Western Canada, with seemingly endless greenery rolling from the Red River toward the Rockies and the Arctic. This peaceful parkland is a must for those looking to escape the frenetic cities and get back to nature. Particularly good for an Autumn stroll.

8. Old Québec City

The Québec City area is the perfect destination for a cultural reconaissance, with a museum or theatre on every corner, featuring displays from mummies and music to war and watercolours. After a tough day of trekking the tourist trail, head to one of the many low-key bars or relaxing restaurants to sample some Canadian culinary treats.

9. Bay of Fundy

The Bay of Fundy is a 170-mile-long ocean bay that stretches between the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on Canada’s east coast. Arguably one of the world’s most dramatic and dynamic coastlines, the Bay offers some fantastic sight-seeing, as well as a fantastic array of fresh seafood restaurants.

10. Toronto

Canada’s most populated city attracts millions of visitors a year with good reason. The city has attractions that span the modern to the historical and the cultural to the commercial. Packed with buzzing bars, top-notch restaurants and live music venues, it’s certainly got a strong claim to the crown of Canada’s party capital.
