Little Village In a Big Busy City

Bustle of the night life against hopelessness of days; perfect strict lines against soft and smooth; concrete, glass, striped asphalt highway against old buildings, mansions, green squares and parks; cool ceramic tiling of the west against panel skyscrapers of the east... Yes, Berlin - the city of contrasts.
Angerdorf (or simply Dorf Marzahn) with its peasant yards, wind mills, a church and a village kindergarten is like an oasis in the desert of panel houses and noisy crossroads...

Picturesque Painted Hills, USA

Have you ever thought about why virtually all American parks and reserves have roads? No, it's not because of Americans' laziness. This is usually because of their large areas and the fact that everyone (even the disabled) could come here and see all this beauty with his own eyes.
Most of the hills are clay-red but you can also see yellow and green.
The structure of the hills resembles the cracked after a severe drought soil.
Color transitions are quite contrasting and very bright!
Most of the hills are fenced.
All the routes are accompanied by signs!
Yellow hills.
Some of the hills are covered with strange white fragments resembling shell.
The soil is very fertile despite the fact that it seems to be dry.
Looks like a juniper.
Mountains in the distance seem to have the volcanic base.
On the road.
It seems amazing that something grows in such clay.
Curious that the hills do not lose their color even though after each rain water flushes the breed and color away.
Roads among the red hills.
Here it really seems that you're on the Mars.
From the other side of the red hill.
All sorts of beautiful flowers grow in the cracked soil. .
Having gone down to the parking lot and covered a few hundreds of meters you find yourself near these hills.
They are perhaps the most beautiful and picturesque.
Amazingly beautiful.
Somebody admiring them.
Some places seem to be the dried bottom of the sea.
Not far away from the hills one can see wigwams.
And different formations.
Of different colors.

White Sands of Archer Beach

This wonderful beach is located in the north-east of Sokotra island, Yemen. There is no road leading there, only the rut made by jeeps. It's an amusing place, impressing with its high sand dunes that cuddle up to high smooth rocks.
The beach looks empty, only one fisher is here.
Though, as you see, tourists do come here sometimes.
The main sight of the beach is sand dunes. They are formed in summer when monsoon winds are blowing. The strong wind falling from the cliff into the sea creates a vertically twisting flow of air, taking white coral sea sand up under the cliff.
Between the dunes a fresh stream is flowing.
It forms a small pool where it should be cool to bathe in warm weather.

Nan Lian Garden: Harmony Found In Hong Kong

Nan Lian is a cosy little garden with tiny towers, a vegetarian restaurant, souvenirs shop, a pond with golden fish,  twisting paths dividing the hills of the park. You may come here for calmness, beauty, solitude, harmony, all together.
Behind the "waterfall" is the restaurant of vegetarian cuisine, you may sit inside, eat and watch water trickling down the other side of the window.
The paths of the park divide some hills: Elm Hill, Dragon Hill, Pagoda Tree Hill...
In the pond cute fish are living.
Another part of the pond is being constructed.
You'll ask how they manage to keep it that beautiful and clean? Just read the regulations followed in the garden.
And quite interesting - that is how toilet signs look like.

Stromboli – The Most Active Volcano on the Earth

Stromboli is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the eight Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily. A significant geological feature of the volcano is the Sciara del Fuoco, a big horseshoe-shaped depression generated in the last 13,000 years by several collapses on the north western side of the cone. A typical eruption at Stromboli consists of several small gas explosions each hour, ejecting incandescent cinder, lapilli, and bombs to heights of a few tens or hundreds of feet. Tephra is glowing red when it leaves the vent but becomes black and nearly solid before hitting the ground. Occasionally, lava flows may also be produced. Lava flows from Stromboli are typically less fluid than Hawaiian lava flows and thus are somewhat shorter and thicker. Because of the lower fluidity, it is harder for gas to escape from the rising magma. Gas bubbles become pressurized and burst at the top of the magma column, producing small explosions and throwing clots of molten lava into the air. When this type of eruption is observed at other volcanoes, it is referred to as Strombolian.
